Subsidy Palliative: FG donates bus to Edo govt

BENIN CITY - A Fifty-nine seater bus donated to Edo State by the Federal Government under its subsidy removal palliative was yesterday presented to the State Governor, Comrade Adams, Oshiomhole.

Receiving the bus donated through the National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW) on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Victor Enoghama appreciated the gesture of the Federal Government which he said would go a long way to ameliorating the transportation problem of the people.

He noted that the Edo State Government had also put its own palliatives in place to cushion the effect of the oil subsidy removal on the people of the State, adding that plans were on to procure another one hundred air conditioned Comrade buses for intra and inter-city services.

The State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Chief Odion Olaye said the fare for the bus would be the same as charged by the Comrade Buses, that is, N40 for adult and N20 for students in uniform.

According to Chief Olaye, the bus will operate within the Benin metropolis adding that when the remaining nine are delivered, they would be assigned to other senatorial districts.
