BENIN CITY – Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe has cautioned members of the general public to desist from sending in frivolous petitions capable of undermining the statutory functions of parliament, and warned, that henceforth Parliament will no longer tolerate such attitude. The warning was sequel to the consideration of the report of the House Standing Committee on Public Petition on a petition titled: “Letter of Dismissal to Johnbull Aigbe by the Judicial Service Commission: Case for Review” dated September 2, 2011 and signed by one Benjamin Aima Oviagele Esq.” yesterday at the Committee of the Whole. The Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Public Petition, Hon. Kingsley Ehigiamusor revealed through the nine point findings in the report of the committee that Mr. Johnbull Aigbe, who until his dismissal was a bailiff functioning as a Registrar at Okha/Ologbo Customary Court, was culpable in the falsification and endorsement of a certain court judgment invariably leading to his eventual dismissal by the Judicial Service Commission. Hon. Ehigiamusor observed that the petitioner, Mr. Johnbull Aigbe accepted responsibility for his ignoble action of fraud, which formed the basis for the one-point recommendation of the committee to refuse the prayers of petitioner calling for his reinstatement for lack of merits. On his part, Rt. Hon. Uyi Igbe warned that henceforth, Parliament will no longer tolerate frivolous petitions from members of the general public as security operatives in the state will be invited to deal decisively with such petitioners. |
