IGUEBEN – Edo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Lucky James has commissioned new fleets of vehicles procured by the Igueben Local Government Council of Edo State.
This is even as he warned councils against misuse of excess crude funds of their councils.
Chief Lucky James commissioned the vehicles when he visited the council to inspect projects executed with the excess crude fund.
The vehicles, five in number, include one Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Suv, one Toyota Hilux Van and three Toyota Corollas.
The commissioner expressed hope that administrative problem that had arisen from non-availability of vehicles would be eliminated to enhance improved productivity.
He used the opportunity to warn councils against mis-appropriation of the excess crude fund, noting that every misuse would be exposed and appropriate punishment meted out.
He advised the various council chairmen to use the opportunity provided them by the comrade governor to impact on their people as laudable legacies.
Speaking after inspecting the projects executed by the Igueben Local Government Council, Chief Lucky James, praised the council for conforming with standard of the state government in the construction and renovation of schools.
He, however frowned at the slow pace of some of the on-going projects, including the Ekpon Township Road, which according to him was awarded in 2009.
He advised the council to speed up action on the road and also called on it to provide furniture for the classrooms they have built.
He similarly called on the council to complete the block of three classrooms at Ijeduma Primary School Ekpon, as well as the civic center to put them to use.
Responding, the chairman of Igueben Local Government Council, Mr. Sylvanus Igbogbo said his administration had keyed into the policies and programmes of the state government by complying with the Comrade governor’s specifications.
He explained that the delay in some of the projects were due to insufficient funds, and the need to execute projects in all 10 wards of the council.
He then pledged to continually make judicious use of little resources available to the council.
