EDSG restates commitment to unemployed youths

BENIN CITY- Edo State Government has restated its commitment towards empowering the unemployed in the State, particularly the youth.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. Osikhena –Boih Donald made this known while declaring open a five-day graduate Entrepreneurship Workshop organised by Edo State Government in collaboration with BCD Venture and Associates.

The Commerce and Industry Commissioner stated that the training will open the minds of participants who are yet to establish business towards becoming successful entrepreneurs in the near future and noted that for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to grow and support a high rate of economic development, there was need for access to credit facilities.

He said that the Edo State government collaboration with Bank of Industry is giving out loans to entrepreneurs whose projects are not only viable but also feasible.

Barr. Osikhena -Boih Donald reiterated Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s desire to uplift the economic well being of the less privileged in the society and advised participants of the Graduate Entrepreneurial Scheme to form into Cooperatives for easy access to the available loan schemes.

Government functionaries at the ceremony included Education Commissioner, Barr. Ekpenisi Omorotionmwan, Special Duties, (Oil and Gas) Cornmissioner, Hon. Peter lkem; Culture, Arts and Tourism Commissioner, Miss Aanena Temitola as well as Special Adviser to Governor Adams Oshiomhole on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Osato Ize-lyamu who described the training us manifestation of Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s

readiness to positively affect the people of Edo State and solicited for their continued support for his administration.

The Centre Manager, Technology incubation Centre, (Mrs.) Julie Momah, in a goodwill message blamed failure of many entrepreneurs on lack of preparation and enjoined the participants to take the training seriously.

Over 500 participants are attending the training.
