Edo Guber Poll: Benin Monarch cautions aspirants

BENIN CITY- The Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, has urged all the aspirants in the July 14, 2012 gubernatorial election in Edo state to eschew violence and imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.

Oba Erediauwa gave the charge yesterday in his palace when the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, General Charles Airhiavbere and other stakeholders in the party paid him a courtesy visit.

The Benin Monarch spoke through the Esere of Benin Kingdom, Chief Ebonwonyi.

Earlier, the state chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, said the visit was to formally present General Airhiavbere to the palace as the party’s flagbearer in the July 14, 2012 gubernatorial election in the state.

The General thereafter requested for royal blessing by the Monarch and was obliged. Among the party chieftains that accompanied General Airhiavbere to the palace were Major, General Godwin Abbe (Rtd) and Senator Roland Owie.
