Benin City - Petroleum product dealers in Edo State have been advised to always ensure that product meant for a particular station is taken to such station to reduce the stress being encountered by the people in sourcing for the product.
The Chairman of Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Committee, Lord Amen Osunde gave the advice while monitoring the distribution and sales of fuel in parts of Benin City and Ewohimi over the weekend.
He warned that it is against the law and out of place for any dealer to divert the product meant for a particular filling station to another because he or she wants to make huge profit.
At Ewohimi, the PMC chairman sealed up Wilmas Filling Station for refusing to sell NNPC product to the people in that locality, thereby putting untold hardship on them.
He also directed the management of the station to come to Government House and explain why they had refused to sell their product to the public.
He used the occasion to thank the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for providing the committee the necessary facilities to ease its work.
On the reasons for the short fall in the product in some filling stations, the chairman attributed it to the reduction in the numbers of trucks coming into the state, adding that before now, about 48 to 50 trucks were shared by Edo, Ondo and Kogi states but now the number has reduced to between 25 and 28.
He, however, assured that the committee is on ground to ensure that the products allocated to Edo state are monitored till they get to the people.
He also restated that the price of fuel in the state remains at N97 per litre, irrespective of where the dealer sourced the product, and warned that any dealer found selling above the stipulated price would be sanctioned by the committee.
