Making the presentation at Government House in Benin City, the youths under the umbrella of National Union of Edo South Youths and Edo Youth for Good Governance, said he deserved the award because he had proved good governance is possible in Edo State.
According to Iyamu Osaro of the Edo Youth for Good Governance and Comrade Osaghae Collins of National Union of Edo South Youths, Comrade Oshiomhole has made democracy an open system for the youths and old.
“You have proved good governance is possible in Edo State, the youths in the state are behind you, we will mobilise our friends across the state for your cause,” they noted.
The youths who commended the governor for putting the youths first, stated that Comrade Oshiomhole has change the face of Edo schools, the health sector, and the roads.
“We are non partisan, but the good works of the Comrade Governor has endeared him to Edo youths. We urge him not to relent in his drive to transform the state”, they added.
The Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said if Nigeria must make progress, there is need for active objective criticism.
According to him, good governance cannot be achieved without objective criticism which assist any administration to keep the people in focus.
Comrade Oshiomhole called on the youths to continue to embark on enlightenment to sustain good governance and democracy.
“The youths are ever vigilant members of the society because they owe the society a duty to be objective, so as to secure their future”, he noted.
The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the youths for good governance.
