Benin Airport To Get New Car Park

BENIN CITY- The Federal Government has approved the construction of a modern car part at the Benin Airport.

The Benin Airport Manager, Mr. Sunday Ayodele told The NIGERIAN OBSERVER on Sunday that the car park became necessary following the remodeling of the airport.

Ayodele said that shops and other business would also be relocated after the airport transformation.

He said that the Benin Airport would accommodate at the end of the remodeling more passengers daily as against the present 200 passengers capacity.

“At the end of the remodeling, we are going to see a brand new Benin airport.

“The departure hall will be able to take between 500 and 600 passengers and will come with a lot of components, the cooling system, screening points and all offices will be there.”

Ayodele said that the size of the VIP Lounge has been extended to accommodate more guests and has been separated from the protocol lounge.

He said that the long time neglect of facilities at the airport made all the facilities obsolete.

He commended the Minister of Aviation for her transformation agenda, noting that in the next few years, airports across the country would wear new look.

According to him, the two serviceable five tenders at the Benin airport were enough to handle emergencies.
Ayodele said the airport’s security operations have been revitalised as they patrol the airport every six hours daily to ensure safety of the runway.

He said the absence of perimeter fence has led to runway incursion, adding that those caught on the runway had been handed over to the security operatives for prosecution.

On the demolished airport fence and houses by the Edo State Government during the airport road construction, Mr. Ayodele said the affected areas would be rebuilt by the government.
