ABUJA, - The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has claimed responsibility for yesterday's attack in which four Marine police officers were killed in the restive Niger Delta region.
MEND in a statement, the attack was carried out by its fighters and that further attacks would come if their demands and warnings to oil firms are not met.
Although it gave no further details on the attack, sources confirmed to Ascology News that the group intends to send a strong signal Nigeria's Federal Government, oil firms and mobile phone telecom firms over its seriousness to launch attacks if certain needs are not met.
MEND, yesterday shot and killed four policemen on duty in Bayelsa State, Nigeria.
Neither the Nigerian Police nor the Department of State Security Service (SSS) has however confirmed MEND's responsibility.
