Kidnapping: Female banker, 10 others paraded

BENIN CITY- A female staff of a First Generation Bank and ten other suspected kidnappers were paraded yesterday by the State Security Service in Benin City

The eleven suspects who were paraded by the state Director of the SSS, Mr. Bello Bakori before newsmen and the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole are alleged to be members of a gang that killed a security operative when they attempted to rescue a kidnapped victim recently.

They were apprehended at different locations in the process of rescuing a pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) while in their custody.

Parading the suspects, amongst them four females, the SSS director said the arrest is a commitment of the service in collaboration with other security agencies to make Edo state uncomfortable for criminals.

“These are some of the gang that killed our man. It was in the process of rescuing a pastor who was in their custody that they were arrested,” he added.

The Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole commended the security operatives for being able to track down those responsible for the killing of their colleague.

According to him, “it is a question of when they will be arrested because you have the capacity.

The criminals are not as sophisticated as the security agents and as for women they should not find themselves in the company of people they do not know what they do for a living.”

Comrade Oshiomhole, who reiterated his appeal against the payment of ransom to kidnappers, said the state government will reward the security operatives who took part in the operation that led to their arrest with a handsome reward.

According to the banker, Chinwe Melohe, 29, she got married to her husband now at large four months ago after he gave her a ride in his Nissan Jeep.

“My husband, Aimiuwu is writing his GCE while I am a BSC holder, I am not aware he is a kidnapper, but he told me he is into purchasing of diesel,” she lamented.
