Edo Murder: Edo PDP Warns Oshiomhole Against Reprisal

Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) yesterday raised the alarm over fears of  reprisal attacks following an open accusation by Governor Adams Oshiomhole that the PDP was responsible for  the assassination of his private secretary, late Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde, in Benin last week.
Oshiomhole had last week, while addressing supporters of the ACN, who had staged a protest to government house and major streets in Benin metropolis, told the large crowd of a meeting allegedly held at the residence of the national leader of the PDP in Abuja, where the opposition, fearing it would lose the July 14 election, agreed to unleash mayhem on leaders of the ruling ACN members in the state.
Edo State Publicity secretary of PDP, Mathew Uroghide, in a press statement in Benin yesterday, said Oshiomhole’s threat to resort to self help after the police might have failed, violated constitutional means to seek justice, pledging that the PDP was ready to fight back. This  is even as, he said,  the party had also condemned the assassination of the governor’s aide.
Parts of the statement read: “Edo PDP cautions Governor Oshiomhole not to resort to unjustified reprisal attacks or barbaric means to resolve this. If he, as he promised, carries his threat through and unleashes the hoodlums, we will do everything we may to square up to any provocations directed at us.”
